Sports and Performance Counseling

Athletes often spend enormous amounts of time and energy perfecting their physical abilities and little time on the mental preparation needed to realize their full potential. Teaching athletes how to improve their performance by integrating mental training is necessary for athletes to perform consistently in training and competition. Sports and Performance Counseling will better prepare the athlete to be successful both on and off the field.

Our Sports and Performance Counselor, David Crouthers, LCSW, utilizes psychological concepts to strengthen the mental skills of athletes to assist them at performing at an optimal level. David attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a Master in Sports Management and a Master in Social Work. As a former student-athlete at SIUE and professional athlete with the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago Cubs, David knows intimately the challenges an athlete can face.

Preparation and routine, individualized process training, emotional management, solution-focused approach to success, are among the skills that Sports and Performance Counseling strengthens to improve performance.
